St. Petersburg, 24-10-2011 – Linxdatacenter, the parent organisation of Linx Telecom, has recently started up a data center in St. Petersburg. This facility is one of the largest data centers in Russia and Eastern Europe. The center was officially opened by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte who is currently on a trade mission in Russia. After opening a data center in Moscow, this is Linxdatacenter’s second facility in Russia.
With its headquarters in Amsterdam, Linxdatacenter has nine offices in Central and Eastern Europe. The company has focused its attention on this region, with its centre of gravity in Russia.
“The northwestern part of Russia, and St. Petersburg in particular, is strategically important to our company. Thanks to its favourable geographical location, it serves as the port to Scandinavia and other Western European countries. We have been active in this region for more than a decade and know it through and through. This is why we have absolutely no doubts about our decision to make this investment,” according to Jules Delahaije, Linxdatacenter CEO. “We are optimistic about the future. The economic slump has forced companies to focus on their core business and work more efficiently. This has resulted in a higher demand for commercial data centers that play an important role in the goal to achieve more cost efficiency,” according to Delahaije. Linxdatacenter is concentrating on corporate clients, telecom providers, service providers and government.
Sister company LinxTelecom is an international telecom provider with an established network in the region. In addition to the Netherlands and Russia, LinxTelecom also maintains a presence in Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Hungary, Georgia, Sweden, Finland, Germany and England.
In 2009, Infradata had already won the contract to provide the complete support package for LinxTelecom’s international MPLS network. Infradata supplies both hardware and software support for LinxTelecom’s network that consists primarily of Juniper MX Routers. Infradata will also be handling any future LinxTelecom network expansion activities.
