Cyber security without friction loss.
Christoph Wolk, Solution Architect at Nomios Germany, talks about the importance of experience in the field of cyber security. This experience, combined with technological developments, creates new added value for Nomios' customers.
Hi Christoph, why don't you briefly introduce yourself and explain how you work in the Nomios Germany team?
Christoph: I am 32 years young and have been working in the network and cyber security sector since 2013. For more than 8 years now, I have specialised in Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet.
As an architect, I analyse existing infrastructures as holistically as possible in order to be able to close weak points right down to their source. Like a good doctor, we at Nomios are not just concerned with the symptom, but with the causes. One manufacturer alone cannot always provide the right "medicine". Often more is needed.
For me, one of the great strengths of Nomios Germany is therefore the combination of manufacturer-independent advice and the experienced team of technicians who hold the current certificates for various manufacturers.
What role does experience as a engineer play?
In my view, experience is the key differentiator of an IT service provider. I, for example, have many customers from the automotive, healthcare and public utilities sectors. The other colleagues are well versed in requirements from sectors such as logistics and manufacturing SMEs.
As a team, we are always aware of the specific requirements and know the best practices to make cyber security possible without friction losses. This enables us to implement and help shape IT managers' strategies more quickly and with greater security.
Considering that we also maintain this exchange with more than 400 European Nomios Group technicians across the Group, these strengths scale accordingly. Our offerings as a managed service provider for network and cyber security also benefit considerably here. For me, one of the great strengths of Nomios Germany is the combination of manufacturer-independent advice and an experienced team of technicians.
Where does your love for Palo Alto solutions come from?
At Nomios, we simply love efficiency through automation and the use of ML or AI technologies. Palo Alto combines all of this and enhances it with usability. A good example: as soon as a change is submitted via the "Panorama" management interface, the system automatically checks the configuration again for correctness. Only then is it deployed in the Prod environment. Otherwise, the change would be postponed so that damage or failures are already minimised on the system side.
I am particularly pleased that we also offer our ISO-certified Managed Security Services for Palo Alto. This means that our customers benefit from double SecOps efficiency, especially when it comes to Managed SIEM: that of Palo Alto and that which comes from the operational experience of Nomios Engineers. And with 24x7 security.
One last question: From your point of view, what should SMEs in particular pay attention to when it comes to cyber security?
Network segmentation. Clearly.
Lateral movement must be stopped. Granular segmentation simply makes it more difficult for hackers to move around the network. In addition, a firewall at the perimeter is not enough here and should be supplemented by additional segmentation firewalls. And this is exactly where I and my colleagues at Nomios Germany can help. Also with a non-binding initial analysis!
